Digital transformation fails on subtraction

Transformation plans are lists of things to start. Almost none of them list what stops. So teams run the new process alongside the old one, capacity halves, and adoption is blamed.

The useful question in any transformation meeting is which existing activity this replaces. If nobody can answer, the programme has just added work.

Write the subtraction list. It is shorter, harder and more predictive of success than the roadmap.
